FIELD NOTES
Welcome to Week 1, it's finally here! Are you excited? We certainly are! Foodie adventure is calling!

There are a ton of things going on at the farm any given day of the week. This is where we will keep you updated about all of these things including the progress of our shared investment.

It has been a crazy month finishing up everything for the CSA and as you can imagine COVID19 made us rethink EVERYTHING. Although it has been difficult we feel it has made us stronger as a crew. We are proud to be the first farm in our local area to implement safety procedures not only for our farmstand, customers, and crew, but also extending those same methods to our CSA farm share and it's members.

The fields are prepped and planted! We laid miles of plastic and planted thousands of seedlings and seeds. It was many snowy and rainy days of planning and meetings. When the rains stopped, we got out there as early as we could and stayed out there as long as we could. There were so many dark til' dark days, more than we can count.

Despite our cold and wet spring our technique of using new products such as row cover and the incorporation of our new high tunnels, we are proud to be able to supply you with a wonderful bounty for your first week.

We need a rain dance, who's game? Things are really dry out there right now and we are hoping for rain. On the other hand the warmer weather has really helped pushed some of the other crops along. We're staying super busy keeping up with weeds and irrigating as much as possible.

You asked and we listened. Look for many new vegetable varieties coming this year. A big thank you to our founding members for all of the care and feedback you provided, it helped shape the 2020 season.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions what-so-ever about the CSA or your share, call (413) 800-5583 or email bardwellfarm@gmail.com.

Thank you again for investing in our farm and we'll be seeing you soon!

COVID19 & CSA SAFETY

Choice Selection
All CSA farm share members are required to wear a face mask and practice 6' foot distancing. Gloves will be provided by our farm for members to select their produce. All members must comply to receive their choice selected share. Lastly, farm share selection tables will also be separated 6 feet apart to prevent grouping.

Curbside Pickup
Upon arrival, text or call (413) 800-5583 and a Bardwell Farm Crew Member will bring your pre-selected bag or box share to you vehicle.

Contactless Delivery
Contactless deliveries will be made end of day between 4pm and 6pm.

CSA TOTE BAGS
Please do not bring personal shopping bags to pickup your share. Bardwell Farm tote bags will be distributed when you arrive. A medium share will receive 2, a small share will receive 1, and a half share will also receive 1.

Important, please remember to bring these back when you return the following week because you will trade these in for new sanitized bags. We will repeat the same process every week.

If you forget your bag or bags, more can be purchased at $5 each, no exceptions.

YOUR CSA EXPERIENCE
Having these items will help you make the most of your CSA Farm Share
  • a sharp knife that feels like it was made for your hand
  • a large cutting board
  • a good recipe tool
  • an open mind (this is important), we know you may have never tried some of the items in your share, but part of the experience is the "adventure" and trying something new
  • we also know you like your veggies prepared the way you like them, but you may find a new family favorite trying them a different way

I'm looking forward to being a farm share participant. I've never done this before. So, I will need some assistance. I believe my pick up day is Friday between 3-5. Is this correct?
