YOUR WEEKLY CSA GUIDE
WEATHER ALERT Monday - October 11, 2021 It looks like we may get some rain this week folks, keep those umbrellas handy one more time! FIELD NOTES Is it too early to say that we can't wait for June? It's week 20 and the last week of the farm share. We're really going to miss you all. This year has been one for the history books that's for sure. The labor shortage really hurt our day-to-day operations and let me tell you, it was a struggle some days. The rain we have received this past season and the lack of sun the risk certainly out paced the reward in terms of bounty. We lost field after field of crops, but somehow we made it all work. We have hope better growing conditions will prevail in 2022. The great thing about farming is you can always begin again. We sincerely hope you enjoyed the farm share this year. So much of ourselves go into each and every week. You've heard the term, "it takes a village" and that my friend is the truth. I want you to know our farm wouldn't be what it is today without your wonderful support. A big thank you to our 2021 members, each and every one of you. See you all next year! WEATHER ALERT Monday - October 4, 2021 It looks like we'll be having inclement weather every other day, be sure to have your umbrellas ready folks! FIELD NOTES Another 2.5" of precipitation last night and luckily the bulk of it is over. The fields are flooded or oversaturated depending on what part of town you're on and it makes it extremely difficult to grow, harvest, and get the actual product out. This season has been awful and it's one for the history books that's for sure. On a happy note both high tunnels have been cleared and turned over. We were able to prepare the soil and plant for our winter growing program. The lettuces and kales went in over the weekend and we'll finish the rest at the beginning of the week. Look forward to winter greens and staple vegetables over the holidays. Some of our fields have already been put to bed for the 2021 season. The month of October goes by so fast because we are closing things down on one side and ramping them up on the other. Before you know it we'll have our first frost and the cold will begin to seep in. So much to do before then. Lastly, only 2 weeks left (including this one), for the CSA farm share. Where did the time go! I feel like we just started the season when we were telling you all about it. We're going to miss you guys. We only grow with feedback though. How it went, what you liked, what you didn't like, and if you will be back next year? You can always message us at [email protected], we would love to hear from you! Owner Harrison Bardwell WHAT TO USE FIRST
