Opening day, May 6th!
I promised more behind-the-scenes and I kept my word! This edition of a Week In Pictures features seven days leading up until our farmstand opening.
Asparagus trenches were the priority this week
Laying the asparagus roots (crowns), the new beds will bring more product in the coming years
Backfilling the trenches, love being on my tractor
I made 3 asparagus bunchers to make the job of bunching, cutting and tying easier
The finished product, looking forward to getting these in the field
Middle-week we fertilized the new asparagus beds
Between school, finishing my website and social media goals, and getting the farm up-to-speed in time for opening has been incredibly challenging. At same time though, I can't believe how rewarding it has been.
Earlier in the week our pear tree blossomed, nature is amazing
Rhubarb is growing like gangbusters
The Nevada Lettuce made through the frost advisories late in the week
The New Red Fire Lettuce pops in the sunlight, awesome color
Kale is looking so good, looks so crisp first thing in the morning
Broccoli looking as healthy as ever
Wide shot of the leafy-greens
The garlic is growing leaps and bounds, looks amazingly healthy
Purple Passion Asparagus started popping beginning of the week and it grew quickly
Thursday, Friday and Saturday the rains came
This is the field and property fruit and veggie round-up! Everything is coming along nicely and well on its way.
So many exams and projects due this week, I was sweating it a bit, but I'm over the hump
Add some tractor and farmstand maintenance just for fun
Finished stamping our new bags Friday night, was so bummed I couldn't put them out in the morning because of the rain
Where did this rain come from, luckily Barrett was around to help me out
When you look back, it's crazy how much you can accomplish in one week.
Friday night it poured! My buddy Barrett stopped by to help me put together the stand, wheel it to the road, and spread mulch so it wouldn't get to muddy for the customers. It takes a village, thanks Barrett!
Saturday, May 6th, opening day, started off rainy but cleared later in the day
Oh Marry, I wish you would stick around all season
David and Joselyn beat the weather and picked up some asparagus and spinach
Banjo and Admiral Spinach, 1lb bags, perfect for smoothies, salads and general cooking
Asparagus or spinach, we'll take both
End of the day and a good one it was
I want to personally want to thank each and every one of you who stopped by for our opening day. All the love and support has been amazing, I feel thankful. Here's to season 2017!

Hi Harrison, I am a nurse that worked with your Grandma and mom. I am so impressed with your farm and all your hard work. I look forward to visiting this summer. I will bring grandma when I come. Keep up the good work. It's very inspiring!
