FIELD NOTES
We took advantage of the bad weather and seeded our fall crops!
We're halfway through the farm share program, can you believe it? It's been an amazing ride with you all and we're looking forward to the next 10 weeks! How is it going for you so far? We'd love to hear your feedback. You can message us at bardwellfarm@gmail.com :)
It's been slow going in the pepper, tomato, and eggplant department because of the rainy weather and no sun. The 10-day outlook though is looking prime with lots of sunshine and little to no, precipitation. This means we will finally dry out. Now if we could have a little happy medium that would be great. The good news is you'll have peppers in this weeks share.
See you all Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday!

WHAT TO USE FIRST
TIP: BELL PEPPERS
The bell pepper is the only member of the pepper family that does not produce capsaicin, a chemical that can cause a strong burning sensation when it comes in contact with your tongue. The absence of capsaicin in bell peppers is because of a recessive form of a gene that gets rid of capsaicin. That’s also why some people refer to bell peppers as sweet peppers!
- Greens - wash, dry, place in a container with a paper towel on the top and bottom, refrigerate in crisper, 5 to 10 days shelf life
- Peppers - don't wash until use, refrigerate in a plastic or paper bag keeping the end open, 5 to 7 days shelf life
- Cucumbers - don't wash until use, refrigerate in a plastic or paper bag keeping the end open, 5 to 7 days shelf life
- Green Beans - about 7 days, bagged in the refrigerator crisper drawer
- Scallions - 7 to 10 days, bagged, in the crisper drawer, longer in a glass of water
- Onions - up to 2 weeks, peeled in fridge, several weeks, unpeeled, cool dry place
- Cabbage - up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator crisper drawer
